Microsoft has once again confirmed that the delay to Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox release is not due to “platform limitations.”
Game Science’s action RPG launched last month on PC and PS5, but the Xbox version was delayed for an unknown reason. There was speculation that the developer was having trouble getting the game to run on the Series S console, while other rumors suggested that the game was, in fact, a PlayStation console exclusive.
A Microsoft representative confirmed to Forbes that the game is still on the way, though they declined to comment “on agreements made by our partners with other platform owners.”
The full statement reads: “As we've said before, we're excited to launch Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We'd prefer not to comment on deals made by our partners with other platform owners, but we can confirm that the delay is not due to Xbox platform limitations that have been communicated to us.”
A similar statement was previously provided to Windows Centralin which Microsoft stated that it “cannot comment on agreements made by our partners with other platform owners.”
Both Forbes and IGN reported that the delay was due to an exclusivity deal with PlayStation, although other industry experts disputed this.
Game Science and PlayStation have not publicly commented on the speculation.
Black Myth: Wukong had already sold 10 million copies after just three days on sale across just two platforms. Two weeks later, that figure will likely have increased considerably, and will of course be boosted even further by the upcoming Xbox release.
However, the Xbox version remains without a release date at the moment, despite continued speculation.
