Diddy accused of sex trafficking and extortion
After Combs was arrested based on the sealed indictment, the indictment was unsealed on September 17.
The 54-year-old man was charged with conspiracy to extort; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; as well as transportation to engage in prostitution, according to court documents obtained by NBC News.
The indictment alleged that Combs “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct” for more than a decade, and prosecutors said the alleged behavior began around of 2008.
“To do so,” the documents said, “Combs relied on the employees, resources and influence of the multifaceted business empire that he directed and controlled, creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates participated and attempted to participate in, among other crimes, trafficking sex, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.”
According NBC NewsCombs pleaded not guilty and was denied bail.
“He is going to fight this with all his energy and all his strength,” his lawyer said. Marc Agnifilo he told reporters outside court before the arraignment, “and the full confidence of his attorneys.”
