Square Enix producer Naoki Yoshida has said he wants to release Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox at some point.
But when will Xbox fans finally see the game arrive? In that sense, Yoshida was less forthcoming.
“Of course we announced the PC version of the game, so looking towards the Xbox version, we want to release it on Xbox,” Yoshida told Sports Illustrated. video games place.
“But when it comes to specific details, like when the game will be available and so on, we are not in a position to be able to share anything. But of course, I want to say that it's not that there is no hope, and we really want to achieve it, so players should not give up on their hopes.”
Back in January, a report noted that Final Fantasy 16, then a PlayStation exclusive, would be coming to Xbox at some point, though not anytime soon, and certainly not before the game's exclusivity period ended last summer.
Since then, we've seen Final Fantasy 16 arrive on PC, of course, and Square Enix has had an incentive to release the game even further, as it admitted that both Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth “didn't meet our expectations” in conditions of sale.
Earlier this year, Square Enix said it was “aggressively pursuing” a cross-platform strategy, including “Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms” to try to improve its finances. It looks like an Xbox release will be coming sooner rather than later, and potentially a Nintendo Switch 2 version as well.
Edwin Evans-Thirlwell described the game as “a clever combat system that strains under the weight of a characterful but ponderous pseudo-medieval soap opera, with some of the grandest bosses and dullest side quests in FF history”, in Eurogamer's review of Final Fantasy 16.
