Fortnite Parents Can Now Set Limits on Their Kids' Play Time

Parents and guardians of Fortnite-obsessed children can now set in-game time limits on how long children can play.

Time limit controls, introduced today in Fortnite, do exactly what they say on the tin. Configured in-game through the Parental Controls section of Fortnite or through the online Epic Account Portal, these allow parents to set specific playtime limits and playtime windows.

Parents can even choose whether they want their child to request more time, as the minutes count down.

Time reports, which can be viewed online, show the results of all this: how long the game has been played per day, with totals for the week so far and any extra time awarded.

What does this look like in the game? Kids will see pop-up notifications reminding them of the time remaining for that day, starting when the clock reaches 30 minutes remaining.

There is also a button to request more time, which appears to send an email to your parents.

Epic Games has seen its fair share of legal complaints about purchases and parental controls in the past, although it has reacted by adding a number of parental features in recent years. Options for parents already in the game include limits on voice and text chat, mature language, adding friends, making payments, or accessing higher age-rated content.
