The funny encounter happened during a fan signing event at Rough Trade Berlin on Saturday, August 31. A fan approached Antonoff, 40, holding a sign in the style of the “22” T-shirt Swift, 34, wears during her Tour of the ages and read the text aloud to him: “Who is William Bowery, anyway?”

“I went in and thought, 'Hey, this could be really weird and we could hate it, [but] “Since we’re in quarantine and there’s nothing else to do, could we try to see what it’s like if we wrote this song together?” Swift said, adding that Alwyn wrote “the whole piano part” for “Exile” in Folklore“I was just singing it, the same way as the whole first verse… I was fascinated and asked if we could continue writing that song.”
