Markel Appoints Rhys O'Neill as Senior Underwriter for Marine and Energy Casualty in International Specialty – Markel Group (NYSE:MKL)

LONDON, September 3, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Markel, the insurance operations within Markel Group Inc. MKLannounced today the appointment of Rhys O'Neill as Senior Underwriter, Marine and Energy Liability, International Specialty, effective immediately.

In his new role, O'Neill will be responsible for enhancing best-in-class underwriting strategies to renew and generate new business within Markel's portfolio of international wholesale marine and energy liability businesses, and for maintaining and strengthening strong relationships with key stakeholders including clients, partners and internal teams. O'Neill will be based in London and report to Smith Grantwho was Recently hired as Director, Maritime and Energy Liability, International Specialty.

O'Neill joins Markel from QBE, where he worked as a marine liability underwriter from October 2022managing a diversified portfolio of risks across several lines of marine liability. Previously, he had worked as an underwriter at The Standard Club since December 2013writing primarily on business topics based in Europe. He began his career in insurance with RGL Forensics in September 2012.
