Netflix announces the release date for the second season of Monsters in a new video

Netflix has finally announced the release date for Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez starring Javier Bardem in his first collaboration with Ryan Murphy.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, also called Monsters Season 2, is a sequel to 2022’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which starred Evan Peters as the titular serial killer. This time dramatizing another true-crime story, the second installment will explore the case of real-life brothers who were convicted of the murder of their parents.

The series will hit the streamer on Thursday, September 19 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.

The second season of Monsters aims to make audiences ask themselves, “Who are the real monsters?” According to the official synopsis, the series will chronicle the case of Lyle and Erik, “who were convicted in 1996 of the murders of their parents, Jose and Mary Louise 'Kitty' Menendez. While the prosecution argued that they were seeking to inherit the family fortune, the brothers claimed — and remain steadfast to this day as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole — that their actions were driven by fear of a life of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.”
