Snoop Dogg He remembered when “the joint went out” before meeting Sir Paul McCartney for the first time.
“I'd never met him before, but I'm a huge Beatles fan,” Snoop, 52, shared during an interview. Complex sit with Dr. Drereleased on Monday, August 19. “I’m in the back having a smoke and they say, ‘Sir Paul would like to meet you.’ So I say, ‘Really? Wait a minute.’”
Snoop received a “hug” from McCartney, 82, and was told by the music legend not to take out the joint.
“It’s like, ‘Fuck. Paul McCartney knows who the fuck Snoop Dogg is,’” he continued. “Fuck who Snoop Dogg is. This is Paul McCartney, he knows who I am.”
Snoop added: “That’s the experience I love, when people you respect respect you back. And that only comes from doing quality stuff.”
The rapper further explained that the meeting occurred when he “did a little gig for someone in Hollywood.” He seemed to be referring to the Jimmy Buffett tribute concert, which took place at the Hollywood Bowl on April 11.
Photos from the moment they met have resurfaced on social media. One snap shows Snoop towering over McCartney as they stand side by side. The rapper was all smiles as he posed with his hands making the shaka symbol. A second image shows an enthusiastic Snoop enveloping McCartney in a big hug.

When asked if he would collaborate with McCartney, the “Gin and Juice” rapper didn’t hesitate to reply: “Fuck yeah, in a heartbeat.”
He joked about “Ebony & Ivory,” which is McCartney’s 1982 collaboration with Stevie Wonder or even record a version of Michael Jackson“The Girl Is Mine,” which was released that same year.
“What do you wanna do?” Snoop joked. “Like a motherfucker.”
Both Snoop and Dre, 59, then talked about running into Wonder, 74, several times throughout their careers.
“He’s one of my heroes. I would definitely go with him,” Dre said. “I don’t know what I would do. What would I do in a room with Stevie Wonder? He’s one of my heroes. I’ve always been told that maybe you shouldn’t meet your heroes. It might change your perspective.”
Dre famously turned down a collaboration with Wonder, Jackson and Prince.
“They just asked me to work with them and I was like, ‘What the hell am I going to do with them?'” the famed music producer shared during a 2023 episode of Kevin Hart's From heart to heart“Those are my fucking heroes.”
