During tonight's PlayStation State of Play, we got to learn a little bit more about what's in store for the PS5 in the near future. This included a look at upcoming titles and updates to titles that have already been released. It was a mix of surprises (like a new sequel to Ghost of Tsushima) and games we all knew were coming at some point.
Whether you missed the show or are looking for a recap of the announcements, you'll find all the featured games and their trailers below.
Astrobot DLC
Astro Bot may have only been released a couple of weeks ago, but here it is, headlining the State of Play. Tonight's trailer gave us a sneak peek at the game's upcoming free DLC, which will include five new online speed racing levels and 10 new robots to rescue.
The Astro Bot DLC will be released later this fall.
The midnight walk
From the sci-fi cuteness of Astro Bot to the creepiness that only claymation can bring, The Midnight Walk is the latest game from the creators of Lost in Random, MoonHood Studios. Here, it feels like you're playing as a little character with a flame on his head exploring a very eerie world. (Seriously. Claymation is creepy.)
The Midnight Walk is set to release on PlayStation 5 and PS VR2, but its release date is unknown.
Hell is us
Continuing with the supernatural vibe, the Hell is Us trailer arrived next. Here we get footage of a war-torn country, but it seems like everyone else is the least of its problems (unless all the citizens have holes instead of faces. We shouldn't judge).
Hell is Us will be an upcoming release for PlayStation 5.
The awakening of the metro in virtual reality
Based on the novel Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky (highly recommended if you haven't read it), Metro Awakening VR takes us back to the underground, where things aren't so great. There are all kinds of monsters down there, and this time you can experience them in virtual reality.
Metro Awakening VR launches Thursday, November 7 for PS VR2.
ArcheAge Chronicles
It's time for high fantasy when ArcheAge Chronicles hit the screen. Here we got a good look at both the world you'll explore and the combat you'll face off against some very large beasts. (It also promised a dragon, which is also nice.)
ArcheAge Chronicles is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2025.
Pal World
Palworld emerged from the courtroom to announce that it's coming to PlayStation 5 today. Don't tell Nintendo!
Lunar Remastered Collection
The Lunar Remastered Collection will allow you to enjoy Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete, both originally released years ago for the PlayStation. The graphics have been updated and you can play in widescreen mode.
Coming in spring 2025, the Lunar Remastered Collection will be playable on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge
Two updates have been announced for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. First up, a Radical Reptiles DLC was introduced, which will add two new creatures. Alongside the DLC, a free remix of the soundtrack will be released today.
Sonic X Shadow Generations
Next up, it’s hedgehog time, with a look at the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack for Sonic X Shadow Generations, releasing Thursday, December 12. Yes, Keanu Reeves voiced Shadow. This pack will be included with the digital deluxe version of the main game, which, if you own it, will let you play the main game three days before its release on Friday, October 25.
The neodimension of fantasy
We then took a look at Fantasian Neo Dimension, which is releasing on Thursday, December 5 for PlayStation 4 and 5. This quick look included a look at the combat system.
Dragon Age: The Guardian of the Veil
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to release on Thursday, October 31, so the State of Play was the perfect time to take a look at some more advanced aspects of the upcoming game. This trailer focused on a fight with one or two massive dragons, who definitely did not want to be your friends.
A video has also been released that takes an in-depth look at the wizard's creation:
Alan Wake 2: The Lake House DLC
Yes! A Control-focused DLC for Alan Wake 2! This is what Lottie was hoping for! In this DLC, we'll be visiting a Federal Bureau of Control facility called The Lake House, and knowing this agency's history in handling supernatural events, I don't think anything good happened there.
Alan Wake 2's DLC, The Lake House, is coming out in October. (Hopefully it'll be on Halloween to make it even spookier.)
Hitman: World of Assassination
It's time for another PlayStation VR2 with Hitman World of Assassination. You'll be able to perform all your assassin duties with a headset on when it launches on PlayStation VR 2 in December.
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and 2 remastered
Next up, we got a look at the newly leaked remaster of Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered. (Now that’s a title.) This game (I won’t rewrite it) is releasing on Tuesday, December 10th for PlayStation 4 and 5.
He is afraid of being the center of attention
We're back in the horror genre with Fear the Spotlight from Blumhouse Games. Coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 on Tuesday, October 22, this game looks like it'll bring us some horror classics.
Aghasba Towers
In Towers of Aghasba you will meet magical creatures as you build the perfect village. The game will be available in early access for PlayStation 5 in November this year.
Lego Fortnite
It wouldn't be a gaming showcase if Fortnite didn't make an appearance in some form. This time, the news is that Lego Fortnite is getting a split-screen mode in October, and there's a Fortnite DualSense controller, featuring Peely and Fishstick!
Origins of Dynasty Warriors
Next up is Dynasty Warriors Origins, coming Friday, January 17, 2025.
Wild Monster Hunter
Monster Hunter continues to mix up its usual blend of big beasts battling and adorable cats helping out in Monster Hunter Wilds, which is confirmed to launch on Friday, February 28.
Lego Horizon Zero Dawn
Lego Horizon Zero Dawn still looks adorable and is a fun way to enjoy the original PlayStation 4 game. You can also play with Lego minifigure versions of PlayStation characters like Sackboy and Ratchet! We also learned a release date: Thursday, November 14.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster
Speaking of the original Horizon, Sony, which is very keen on remasters, has confirmed its Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster for PS5. Developed by Nixxes with motion capture of re-recorded conversations and other tweaks, it’s yours for an extra $10 if you own the original. It launches Thursday, October 31 for PC and PlayStation 5.
Star Sword
Stellar Blade is getting a photo mode soon and Nier Automata collaboration DLC later this year.
PlayStation Plus
On PlayStation Plus, October’s games include Dead Space, WWE 2K24, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!, which will be available starting March 1. Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Dino Crisis will be added to the PS Plus Classics lineup later this year.
The Last of Us Part 1 will join the PS Plus games catalogue later this week on September 26.
PlayStation 5 Pro
Mark Cerny popped in to remind us that the PlayStation 5 Pro was recently announced and to show us some very brief snippets of PlayStation 5 Pro-enhanced games.
Ghost of Yotei
And one last thing… Ghost of Tsushima is getting a sequel, Ghost of Yôtei, coming in 2025! It's unclear if this will be a full sequel or a smaller Miles Morales-style adventure, but it seems more like the former.
We hope you enjoyed September’s State of Play!
