The StarCraft games are iconic for their impact on the RTS genre: the series began in 1998 and has become a huge success.

As explained in a Post on Xbox Wire In terms of news, StarCraft was instrumental in the development of Twitch, for example.

“When the beta finally launched, a lot of people started streaming it on Justin.tv and I got hooked on watching it,” one of Twitch's co-founders told Xbox. “As we were trying to figure out what the next step was for Justin.tv, I started to wonder if it would be possible to focus solely on gaming content. So StarCraft II was the first push for Twitch.”

The news was announced by Xbox at this year's Tokyo Game Show.

Later in the presentation, Xbox president Sarah Bond announced that several Square Enix games are now available on Xbox, including Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters.
