The meteorologist revealed that she was unaware of Hoda's plans to leave the morning show until moments before the announcement was made on air.

That same day, Hoda surprised viewers when she tearfully announced that after more than 16 years in Today—and 26 years at NBC News—would say goodbye to her co-anchor role in early 2025.
“I realized it was time to turn the page on being 60 and try something new,” said a tearful Hoda, who turned 60 in August. “I remembered being outside looking at this beautiful group of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, 'This is what it feels like to me when I'm on top of the wave.' And I thought things couldn't get any better and I decided this is the right time to move on.”
