Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore star in Pedro Almodóvar's film

The room next door The trailer has been released for the upcoming drama film, which marks the English-language feature directorial debut of acclaimed filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. Sony Pictures Classics will release the film in U.S. theaters beginning December 20.

“Ingrid and Martha were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Ingrid became a writer of autofictional novels while Martha became a war reporter, and life’s circumstances separated them. After years of not having contact, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.”

Who appears in The Room Next Door trailer?

The video features Oscar winners Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore in the roles of Martha and Ingrid, respectively. The trailer also features a glimpse of John Turturro, Alex Høgh Andersen and Esther McGregor in character. The cast also includes Alessandro Nivola, Juan Diego Botto, Melina Matthews, Raúl Arévalo, Victoria Luengo and Alvise Rigo.

The Next Room is written and directed by Almodóvar, based on Sigrid Núñez’s 2020 novel What’s Going On?. It is produced by Agustín Almodóvar and Esther García. The film had its world premiere earlier this month at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Golden Lion Award.
