MCU fans have long awaited a Moon Knight Season 2 but we haven’t received any concrete updates regarding its development and release. Releasing in 2022, the Disney Plus series stars Oscar Isaac in the lead role of Steven Grant and his alter ego Marc Spector. Season 1 was released over two years ago, which has made fans curious about Season 2 and whether it is cancelled, delayed, or renewed.
Here are the details about Moon Knight Season 2.
Did Marvel and Disney cancel or delay Moon Knight season 2?
Marvel Studios and Disney have not confirmed anything about Moon Knight season 2, so it is neither cancelled nor delayed.
Director Mohamed Diab previously revealed in a conversation with Arabic Marvel that Marvel had a limited series plan for Moon Knight, which dampened hopes for a renewal. He added that Marvel plans the future of the series in advance, regardless of whether the current seasons are successful or not. “Marvel's way is not the usual way where if the project is successful, I say let's renew it for a second season. It's their plan, successful or not, they have a plan.” Cosmic Circus)
Moon Knight had impressively become a much-loved character and the series received critical praise for its visually appealing narrative and sequences. However, it remains unclear whether Marvel had renewal plans in mind. Earlier, even Isaac spoke about a second season in an interview with ColliderHe had no idea about the potential season and said, “There is no official information.”
However, fans will have to wait for the studios to announce the fate of the series.
Could Marvel renew Moon Knight for a second season?
There are chances that Moon Knight will be renewed for a second season, following its huge popularity. However, Marvel Studios has not made any official statements on the matter yet.
Moon Knight's first season concluded in May 2022, with a teaser featuring Marc Spector's third personality Jake Lockley in the post-credits scene. This teaser could possibly set the stage for a second season, delving deeper into Khonshu's new avatar and also carrying forward Layla El-Faouly's story as Scarlet Scarab. And despite the two-year wait, Marvel has not officially cancelled the series. So while the chances of a second season seem slim, it could still happen.
Furthermore, Isaac’s character is set to make his animated debut in What If…? season 3. Additionally, fans are hoping to see the character join the Avengers roster in Doomsday and Secret Wars as well. Even showrunner Jeremy Slater revealed in an interview that if he had decision-making powers, Moon Knight would have been part of the Avengers.
However, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios would ultimately decide Moon Knight's fate in the MCU. Now, it remains to be seen whether the series will get a second season.
